When faced with the need for a comprehensive upgrade to their home automation system, a private client sought the expertise of Harbour Automation. Recognising the pressing demand for modernisation and efficiency, the team embarked on a mission to revamp the existing infrastructure, delivering innovative solutions tailored to meet the client’s evolving needs. Steven Kelly, Harbour Automation MD, explains, “With the stunning property spanning around 50,000 SQ ft, this project presented a monumental challenge that Harbour Automation enthusiastically embraced. Tasked with orchestrating a transformation on a grand scale, our team navigated the complexities of this expansive property with finesse and precision.
“From the sprawling outdoor spaces to the intricately designed interiors, every corner of the estate was meticulously outfitted with state-of-the-art automation solutions. Despite the scale of the endeavour, our dedication to excellence remained unwavering, culminating in a project of immense magnitude that we are exceptionally proud to have undertaken.”
Detail and focus
Steven expands on a few more details of this recent project, “We came highly recommended from another client after we had provided a whole home automation solution on their new build property the previous year. The private client resides in a property spanning around 50,000 sq. ft in the Surrey Hills. For us, this is the pinnacle of projects and one that has it all.
“After the initial meeting and the customer already knowing our history of quality workmanship and professionalism, the deal was more or less done. We carried out a full day of investigations before design commenced.”
Steven continues, “The initial brief was for a comprehensive upgrade to the existing infrastructure that was in rapid decline after almost 15 years of use. After 13 years of Crestron, we proposed a sophisticated and highly spec’d Control4 system throughout the property that would provide the customer with the best possible experience for many years to come.
“Given our thorough design and implementation, we didn’t really come up again and real challenges apart from just the pure scale of the site and that the family was always around whilst we transitioned from one system to another whilst trying not to have any downtime. It was almost like brain surgery as no matter what, we had to keep the Crestron functioning whilst ripping it out. That was the biggest challenge by far.”
Some other highlights underlined by Steven, “Here at Harbour, we always go above and beyond for every single client. The cinema room alone is outstanding, but we added a 4 metre blind with artwork, one that conceals the immersive fixed cinema screen when not in use.
There are so many amazing parts to the project and it’s difficult to say without giving away too many details of this private location. The cinema room is pretty impressive along with the amount of automation throughout this impressive home.
