Lyngdorf Audio will be launching the D-6, a two-way in-wall speaker, and the DW-10, a high-performance shallow in-wall woofer. D stands for Discreet and joins the Danish company’s custom installation speaker series. The Discreet series is continuously growing and now consists of nine models; D-500, D-500 Centre, D-5, D-5 IC, D-6, D-60, and D-60 C, completed with two in-wall woofers DW-1 and DW-10.
D-6: A space-saving two-way in-wall speaker with a coherent sound balance
The new Lyngdorf D-6 is an in-wall alternative to traditional two-way bookshelf or stand mount speakers, delivering a coherent sound balance and well-integrated bass, says the maker. It has a rectangular upright design, and compared to other Lyngdorf in-wall speakers has a lighter, lower profile construction with no pre-mounted MDF enclosure, suitable for lighter walls or limited cavity space. The D-6 has been created to offer a very high sound quality by using high-quality drive-units mounted on a low-resonance MDF baffle.
D-6: Coherent sound balance and easy to drive
The 6.5in / 18cm aluminium midrange/woofer and the soft dome tweeter mounted on a dense MDF baffle provide the coherent and balanced sound performance known from typical two-way stand-mount or bookshelf speakers, says the maker. With a sensitivity of 89 dB and a nominal impedance of 6 ohm, the D-6 is very easy to drive for any amplifier. It also allows a high SPL and has a high long-term power handling, making the D-6 suitable as front speakers for two-channel stereo systems, as well as high-performance surround speakers in cinema rooms.
DW-10: Impressive bass from a shallow in-wall design
The new Lyngdorf DW-10 is a high-performance in-wall woofer specifically made for custom installations that require the shallowest woofer solution yet with the best possible bass performance. The DW-10 adds to the DW-1 introduced last year. The rigid and sealed enclosure of the DW-1 perfectly fits 4in/10 cm cavity walls, while new DW-10 enclosure is slightly deeper and utilises two of the woofer drivers, fitting 6in/15 cm cavity walls. The extended height provides the large inner cabinet volume required for remarkable bass extension from such a slim enclosure. DW-1 and DW-10 are ideal woofer solutions for media rooms with entirely installed in-wall speaker systems, or rooms with free standing speakers where the woofers should be hidden, or media rooms and home cinemas with no space for placing subwoofers in the room.
DW-10: Two powerful high-excursion 10in woofers
The very limited depth inside an in-wall woofer requires a special high-performance driver. The DW-10 uses two patented high-excursion shallow woofers, customised for Lyngdorf Audio and based on an innovative voice-coil / cone geometry and suspension which allows the highest excursion from the most space-saving construction. A four-layer voice coil, an ultra-rigid dual aluminium cone, a very powerful neodymium magnet, and an extremely rigid cast basket provide impressive bass performance, achieving a high output level and low reach. The high-bandwidth design ensures an accurate, fast response and allows the most seamless sound integration with the main speakers. The D-6 and DW-10 will be launched at the ISE 2025 and available in Q1 2025.
