Theory Audio Design has released a major update to its system configuration software with the launch of AutomatorIP, now available for download from the Theory website. The new version significantly simplifies the setup process for surround sound systems and, for the first time, supports third-party loudspeakers.
AutomatorIP allows installers to deploy complete 7.1 or 5.1.2 systems using Theory or third-party loudspeakers on the brand’s DLC-250.8 loudspeaker controller—achieving full configuration in just 15 minutes using only a tape measure.
At the core of Theory’s approach is the DLC-250.8, an 8-channel loudspeaker controller that combines multiple technologies into a single 1U chassis. It functions as a multi-channel DSP processor, high-power home cinema and distributed audio amplifier, mixing amplifier, bass manager and loudspeaker processor—all designed for professional-level performance in a discreet format.
The controller offers intelligent channel-pair power sharing up to 250W, a full DSP matrix, and TCP/IP control via wired or onboard Wi-Fi. It also employs proprietary DSP techniques for precision signal processing with Theory loudspeakers and subwoofers. With the addition of AutomatorIP, the system’s versatility and ease of use are further enhanced.
AutomatorIP runs on a connected PC and guides installers through a five-step setup process via an intuitive interface. Whether configuring a full Theory system or one using third-party loudspeakers, installers can now complete setup in a fraction of the usual time without microphones or cables.
Key features include:
- Surround system setup in minutes
- Optimised bass management
- Intelligent power allocation
- Compatibility with third-party loudspeakers
- No specialist calibration equipment required
“When we initially introduced Automator for Theory’s ALC-1809 loudspeaker controller, it became a customer favourite for its ability to deploy and configure spectacular sounding surround sound systems with minimal effort,” says Paul Hales, CEO at Theory Audio Design. “Given its success, there was no question we would port the Automator software over to the DLC platform. AutomatorIP now gives DLC customers a major advantage over the competition. Whether deploying a surround system with Theory or using third-party loudspeakers, AutomatorIP makes configurations of even complex Atmos systems painless and simple, every single time.”
