Vivint may be announcing a new smart home AI at CES 2017, but that isn’t the only thing the smart home manufacturer has up its sleeve. That’s because the company is also revealing a partnership with Airbnb which will allow existing Vivint customers to link their Airbnb accounts with the Vivint smart home app for Android and iOS.
Why would users want to link the two accounts? Well, by doing so homeowners will be able to check on their rentals while they’re away and even given upcoming guests virtual keys for accessing their home – meaning it’s less likely that you’re future guest will ‘lose’ a key.
In addition to simply making it more convenient, the partnership is designed to make helping guests in a rental have a smoother experience. Fixing issues remotely can often be a hassle for Airbnb users, but with Vivint homeowners will be able to remotely view any issues that have arisen, adjust security settings, enable keyless entry and even keep an eye on energy consumption.
Vivint isn’t the only smart home company partnering with Airbnb. The rental company has already partnered with August, the smart lock manufacturer. Vivint is the first professional security company to tie-up with the Silicon Valley darling however.
Airbnb in the past has been criticised by some rental owners for not offering enough peace of mind for homeowners, but with this Vivint tie-up, it should give renters the peace of mind they’re looking for.
