For homeowners wanting even more convenience than using an App to control their lighting, Philips presents the Hue motions sensor: a battery-powered and completely wireless device that turns Hue lights on and off automatically while saving energy (via the inclusion of an integrated daylight sensor.)

Easy to configure via the Philips Hue App, the motion sensor can be placed anywhere in the home. The Philips Hue motion sensor is connected to the user’s Philips Hue bridge via the Philips Hue App – and just like that – it will automatically turn on Philips Hue lights when the homeowner enters a room.

When designing the Hue motion sensor, Philips had hallways, bathrooms, basements or garages in mind, allowing users to choose in the App which scene or light setting should be triggered when any motion is detected – the lights will turn off automatically, when there is no longer motion detected.

It’s also possible to set different light settings for day and night: During the day, the sensor can trigger crisp white light to help the user see better, whereas at night, it can turn on a gentle night light in the event that anyone gets out of bed.

The integrated daylight sensor ensures that lights only turn on when needed. Users can easily change the light sensitivity in the Philips Hue App, so the sensor only triggers when that bit of extra light is needed. When no more motion is detected, the lights dim down before they automatically switch off after a selected time.

Set up is completed in a matter of minutes: the device can be placed on a shelf, side table, or mounted to a wall or ceiling using the included screw. It can even be attached to metal surfaces such as a fridge using the included magnet, and the detection angle can be adjusted by turning the sensor in the right direction.

Users can connect up to 50 lights and various accessories to the Philips Hue bridge.
