Insteon has become one of the first home automation systems to support the Apple Watch, with the company launching its App to coincide with the release of Apple’s first wearable.
Using the Apple Watch, users will be able to control and monitor their Insteon devices, including lights, appliances and thermostats.
Apple Watch users will also be able to monitor wireless cameras, as well as be notified when sensors are activated, whether it be a motion sensor, door/window sensor, smoke/CO2 sensor, or a water leak.
“We are proud to be among the first in the connected home space to release support for Apple Watch especially given our wide variety of connected home devices,” says Joe Dada, CEO at Insteon.
“We believe our new solution for the Apple Watch further establishes Insteon as a leader in home automation and underscores our commitment to making Insteon accessible for anyone, from anywhere.”
Insteon’s system not only works with Apple Watch, but the company was also one of the first home automation systems to work with Apple’s HomeKit platform, although only on the new hubs.
The Apple Watch was officially released today, with customers finally able to pick up their devices at select stores around the world.
In the UK only one small boutique in London is selling the Apple Watch to customers in person, with an appointment required. Instead, Apple is advising people to order online, although order dates are already stretched to August for some models.
