Product Highlight: Eltako Launches Series 64 Matter Compatible Products

It’s not often that something new comes along that will have such a big impact on the Smart Home market as Matter will, says Eltako.

Unlike Eltako’s extensive range of EnOcean wireless devices, Matter devices are controlled via wired switches and Wi-Fi App. However, Eltako has announced new Matter enabled modules, for switching and dimming, with more devices becoming available in the coming months. As Matter devices, they can be integrated into Apple HomeKit, Google Home and Amazon (Alexa) and over the free Eltako Connect software installers can make the configuration. This will open a whole new world of possibilities for homes to become truly integrated and intelligent says the maker.

The new Eltako Series 64 devices combine the latest switching and control technologies with innovative connectivity and functionality. They are Matter-certified and offer REST API according to the Open API standard and enable over-the-air updates, which forms the basis for professional smart home retrofitting. Its range of functions can also be expanded using Eltako’s unique EnOcean plug-in adapter EOA64. Thus, for the first time, combining Matter and EnOcean product directly together.

Easy set up

In general, once the devices are installed and powered up you will hear a tone after a few seconds. Then scanning the supplied QR code, installers will then add the device to the selected App. You then select a name for the device like ‘Lounge Lights’ from a drop-down box or type in your own selection and basically that’s it. Any updates are downloaded automatically. It should be noted that the software is encrypted and totally secure. There is already over 1500 devices listed for heating, lighting, blinds, air quality, access control and leak sensors that are Matter enabled.

Matter is an Open Protocol, so installers are not dependent on one single manufacturer. So, you can pick and choose the products you want from the various existing manufacturers. It has long been the desire to easily integrate all the smart devices in a home, together using one Open Protocol platform, now we can, says Eltako.

Eltako also offers an open API for anyone who would like to configure and control the new IP devices from Eltako with their own software. Information on this can already be downloaded from the website.
