ELAN is launching a couple of new solutions at CEDIA 2016, with a new 12in touch panel on display in Dallas, alongside an update to the company’s UltraMatrix HDMI/audio switchers which adds 4K video.

The gXP12 is the flagship product launch for CEDIA 2016, with the new 12in touch panel designed to boost the user interface options for ELAN users. While it’s an entirely new product, the company says that installers will be able to control any legacy ELAN systems using the interface.

“The gXP12 gives dealers a great option for customers who need a larger touch panel. Plus, the ELAN user interface looks beautiful on the 12in screen,” Eric Herdman, product manager, ELAN, notes.

“With the Video Overlay Feature available in the upcoming ELAN 8.0 software update, the gXP12 allows installers the opportunity to not only sell a control touch panel, but a video monitor as well. As such, the gXP12 is a great solution where space is limited and video from sources like Satellite, Cable TV, Blu-Ray, or other devices is desired from a single device.”

The high performance gXP12 has an 11.6in diagonal 16:9 screen offering a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. With a 5MP camera, the gXP12 is also optimised for ELAN Intercom. The touch panel provides high-fidelity audio for clearly hearing conversations and notification chimes. The gXP12 also includes a digital MEMS microphone with echo and noise cancellation.

Built on a scalable, multi-core platform, the gXP12 features a Freescale iMX6 dual- and quad-core processor with a NEON SIMD co-processor and 1.0GHz ARM Cortex-A9. For installers, the touch panel utilises Power over Ethernet (PoE) and a 24VDC power jack. Additionally, the gXP12 is CE, RoHS/WEEE and PoE 802.3af compliant.

In addition to the gXP12 touch panel, ELAN has announced the addition of 4K video to the UltraMatrix HDMI/audio switchers.

“The new ELAN UHD UltraMatrix line will include the same great features and easy configuration of UltraMatrix line, but it has been enhanced to support multiple signal formats, including 4K,” Eric adds.

“We’re maximising signal format compatibility, without sacrificing the single-chassis ease-of-installation that makes the UltraMatrix line a favourite among ELAN dealers.”

The UltraMatrix line is updated to include a 4K HDR Solution, which supports HDMI 2.0a, HDCP 2.2, 300MHz formats, as well as 4K @ 24Hz, 4:4:4, 8bpc = 297MHz, 4K @ 24Hz, 4:2:2, 12bpc = 297MHz, 4K @ 60Hz, 4:2:0, 8bpc = 297MHz, 4K @ 24Hz, 4:4:4, 10bpc = 371MHz, and 4K @ 24Hz, 4:2:0, 10bpc = 371MHz.

“Additionally, ELAN’s new UltraMatrix line supports Dolby 5.1 Downmixing, DTS, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos Pass Thru, as well as HDMI audio to digital and analog outputs,” Eric says. “It is the ideal switcher to use when extending signals in a residential media or entertainment room.”

Created to simplify the connection and distribution of high performance audio and video gear, ELAN’s gMV family of multi-zone audio HDMI switchers can send HDMI, Ethernet, serial and IR signals over a single cable. The integrated audio routing lets installers route audio from analog, optical SPDIF, coaxial SPDIF and HDMI inputs to any mix of analog, coaxial SPDIF or HDMI/HDBaseT outputs. This allows custom installers to designate HDMI displays as audio zones.

HDBaseT technology is also incorporated within the ELAN UltraMatrix switchers to facilitate high definition content distribution. “HDBaseT also connects control signals and Ethernet to remote areas, enabling control of monitors and sources, and providing internet to smart TVs, streaming sources and gaming devices,” explains Eric.

According to Eric, no installation ever seems to have enough inputs and outputs. “Even the best engineered projects often run short,” he says. “This new line of ELAN UltraMatrix Switchers provides extensive I/O flexibility to route signals from any source to virtually any destination.”
