Jordan O'BrienAvant Homes is the first national housebuilder to partner with British Gas to install the Hive Active Heating technology in every single one of its homes built in the UK. That means those buying an Avant home will be able to remotely control their heating without having to get an installer in themselves.
Unlike many other housebuilders in the UK, Avant Homes includes everything as standard – including fully integrated appliances, carpets, wardrobe and more. Including Hive Active Heating is certainly unique, however.
Avant Homes made the decision to partner with British Gas as a way to offer its customers even more as standard. The move was also made to set its houses apart from the competition, with Avant homeowners likely to save money on their energy bills thanks to the company’s decision.
The technology is being integrated into all new houses being built at Avant Homes’ current developments throughout Scotland, North East England, Yorkshire and the Midlands throughout 2017.

The Hive wireless thermostat gives purchasers of an Avant Home the ability to manage their energy use with Hive Active Heating if they choose to install The Hive Hub. The hub plugs into a broadband router, and can be controlled through a smartphone, tablet or laptop. It works with any existing energy provider, meaning there is no need to change gas or electricity supplier.
