Jordan O'BrienApple has hit back at reports claiming that its home automation platform HomeKit has been delayed.
A report in Fortune yesterday claimed that HomeKit wouldn’t be ready until August or September, something Apple denies.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal an Apple spokeswoman says that “HomeKit has been available for just a few months and we already have dozens of partners who have committed to bringing HomeKit accessories to market and we’re looking forward to the first ones coming next month.”
Fortune has since updated its story to reflect the comment from Apple, with the publication now reporting that just some HomeKit devices have been delayed. There was no mention as to which companies have delayed their products, however.
Many manufacturers have already announced HomeKit products, although the platform hasn’t exactly taken off.
While General Electric, Broadcom and Insteon are all throwing their weight behind HomeKit, Apple hasn’t spoken much about it since announcing the platform almost a year ago – although the company also never gave HomeKit an official release date.
