Russ Andrews Accessories is reintroducing the original PowerBlock and Reference PowerKord some 23 years after they were first released, as an updated limited-edition combination.
The PowerBlock was launched in 2000, with reviewers and users praising the sonic improvements it made to audio systems.
The now familiar triangular body of the PowerBlock, with its ‘upside down’ mains sockets, enables heavy duty and often inflexible mains cables to be connected without putting undue strain on the cables and plugs.
Today’s reintroduction provides all the benefits of the original, but brought up to date with more effective built-in surge protection and higher quality SuperSocket II mains sockets for a lower impedance connection.
A total of eight audio components can be connected to the PowerBlock, which is internally cabled with Kimber Kable’s high-capacity TCX mains wire. A grounding terminal is fitted, which enables integration with the Russ Andrews Grounding System, and the integral MegaClamp provides protection against mains borne spikes that can degrade sound quality and potentially damage sensitive equipment.
Connecting the PowerBlock to the household mains supply is done via the 16A IEC input socket and supplied Reference PowerKord. The reintroduced PowerKord was first launched in 2002, serving as the mainstay of Russ Andrews’ mains cable offering for over 10 years.
Featuring the RFI rejecting Kimber woven geometry, high-purity copper conductors with Teflon insulation and high-quality MK mains plug with Russ Andrews specification fuse, it provides a clean mains supply to the components of the user’s hi-fi system.
“We broke the mould when we first introduced the PowerBlock, with its quirky looks and upside-down sockets, but sales over the past 23 years have proven that we got it exactly right,” says Russ Andrews chairman and technical director.
“Our flagship model, the Signature PowerBlock, remains popular to this day, but its premium specification commands a corresponding price so we made a decision to bring back the original version as a limited edition, making this exceptional design available to a much wider audience.
“Coupled with the original Reference PowerKord and very attractive price, this a proposition that we’re sure will be welcomed and will serve to give many more audiophiles a much better musical performance.”
The limited-edition combination is available for £549, which represents a discount of over 42% on the £959 price that they would sell at if part of the company’s current line up.
The products are included in the Risk-Free, 60-Day Money-Back Guarantee, so users can try them at home and return for a full refund if not entirely satisfied. They are also covered by the company’s 25 year warranty.
