Prove your humanity

Monitor Audio Group is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of UK audio brand, Roksan. Founded in 1985 in London, Roksan has a legacy defined by innovative design, precision engineering and a connection to music.

Capturing audiophiles’ attention with the challenger turntable, Xerxes, Roksan gained traction, notice from specialist press and interest from consumers; the late Art Dudley, Deputy Editor of Stereophile Magazine in 1986, observed that prior to Roksan’s arrival, rhythmically and melodically focused listeners had only one real turntable choice, the Linn LP12.

He praised the Xerxes as, “So good, and so superior to the pre-Lingo LP12, that honest listeners among the so-called/self-called ‘Flat-Earthers’ had no choice but to say so.”

From the original Xerxes turntable to the newest Caspian 4G launched in 2024, Roksan has consistently pushed boundaries in high-fidelity audio by constantly innovating.

“For 40 years, Roksan has followed its own path, defined by distinctive design, thoughtful engineering and a clear point of view. Its personality is quietly unconventional, often expressed through unique forms and innovative ideas that continue to set it apart,” states Michael Johnson, Monitor Audio Group Global Marketing Director.

Roksan’s success over four decades stems not only from its products but also from the people behind the brand. As part of the Monitor Audio Group since 2016, Roksan has flourished by marrying its heritage with cutting-edge R&D and new digital capabilities.

“We’ve strengthened the foundation of the brand by investing in a new production line, we’ve brought in more expertise in electronics, software and mechanical engineering and we’ve professionalised all the processes that ensure we can continue to deliver consistently strong Roksan products now and in the future while keeping everything that made Roksan special intact,” says Rob Barford, CEO of Monitor Audio Group.

“Caspian Series 4G is a perfect example – evolving with modern needs while honouring the spirit of the original design and best of all, we’ve brought production back to Essex. With the help of our dedicated team of technicians, we’re proud to be able to state that Caspian Series 4G models are hand built right here at MAG HQ in the UK – this level of craftsmanship still means such a lot to our customers around the World.”

To mark this anniversary, Roksan is honouring the people, moments and milestones that have shaped the brand over four decades. To celebrate the occasion with its followers, Roksan has produced a long-form brochure to serve as a lasting and shareable piece of storytelling, highlighting Roksan’s evolution and identity through the years.

At the heart of the campaign is an anniversary video, which brings Roksan’s journey to life through the voices of the people who have helped shape its sound and spirit.

One of Roksan’s key team members, Software Test Manager Joe Deller brings a uniquely hands-on perspective about what makes Roksan so unique. “Hi-fi is deeply personal, it’s about what sounds right, what feels right. Roksan has a long heritage of designers and engineers who genuinely love the products they create. That passion is what sets us apart,” says Joe.
