ADI | Snap One has launched the next generation of the Control4 user experience, designed to streamline programming for systems integrators while enhancing personalisation, ease of use and navigation for end-users.
With Control4 X4, ADI | Snap One set out to reduce dealer service calls and empower homeowners as well as business owners to personalise their systems with confidence — delivering a smarter experience that grows with them, not away from them.
Built from the ground up as an intuitive and highly personalisable control platform, the all new Control4 X4 user experience delivers a dynamic way to manage ecosystems with a streamlined Home Screen, curated and personalised Routines and Widgets for quick access to key functions — whether across the entire business, or home, or just in a single room. By transitioning from OS to X4 versions, ADI | Snap One is placing a stronger focus on the experience the technology provides.
Preferences, schedules and navigation screens can be quickly set up by integrators during initial system design and easily modified by end-users as their needs, habits and lifestyles evolve — marking a major milestone in Control4’s evolution for a new era of smarter control and automation across commercial and residential spaces.
To help get started, end-users can access the Knowledge Hub via the Control4 mobile app and T4 touchscreens, for comprehensive, on-demand system tutorials. For integrators, Control4 X4 features new tools, processes and resources to help them successfully deploy X4 systems to existing and new projects.
“The Control4 experience has progressed from a programmed system into an intelligent, adaptable smart living experience. As a combined business, ADI | Snap One is committed to providing our customers and end-users with intuitive and efficient technologies, like Control4 X4,” says Jason Winchester, SVP Chief Product Officer. “X4 introduces a fresh navigation design language and powerful personalisation tools like Widgets and Routines, allowing both integrators and end users to fine-tune their automation settings effortlessly. It’s not a replacement for custom programming, but rather an enhancement that enables quick, easy setup and post-installation modifications.”
With just a few taps via the X4 mobile app, users can create smart automations — from dimming lights at night, turning on exterior lights when the sun goes down and back off at sunrise, or programming multiple TVs during football season at a sports bar. Routines like this that used to require several minutes of programming time can now be accomplished in seconds. Additionally, Control4 X4 marks a major step forward in accessibility by allowing users to adjust text sizes and scale favorited device tiles on iOS, Android and T4 touchscreens.
At the heart of Control4 X4’s streamlined experience is its redesigned Home Screen, which minimises scrolling and provides instant control over favourite devices — whether throughout the entire property or within a specific room. Users can further personalise their experience by adding real-time surveillance camera feeds, frequently used controls and custom Widgets and access to Room View screens. Each Room View screen can be tailored with its own settings, ensuring a truly customised experience.
“At ADI | Snap One, we know that end users want even greater simplicity, more intuitive access to rich features, and modern aesthetics all in one convenient package,” added Jason. “As a result, we’re continuing to invest and innovate to meet these expectations through advancements like Control4 X4. Excitingly, early feedback on Control4 X4 has been overwhelmingly positive. Customers are especially impressed by the intuitive features, easy-to-use controls and overall experience, with many saying the new Home Screen is exactly what Control4 has been missing.”
Control4 X4 also introduces enhanced Apple HomeKit functionality, allowing deeper integration with the Apple ecosystem. Users can now control their Control4 system via Apple CarPlay, iPhone Control Center and Mac Desktop, launch Scenes with Siri voice commands and adjust individual lighting dimmers and connected devices directly from Apple devices.
Connect is also required for X4 and ADI | Snap One has developed tools to better support integrators based on their feedback.
Control4 X4 will be on display at InfoComm Booth #3728 in Orlando, FL from June 11-13.
