Nanoleaf has announced three new lighting products and two new smart features designed to transform spaces and take lighting to the next level.

The company’s annual Nanoleaf Live event, held on September 5 2024, introduced a full suite of new innovative smart home products, from immersive statement and ambient lighting to the company’s first ever smart light switch.

Nanoleaf Blocks takes lighting to a new dimension of style and function with a reported first-of-its-kind mix and match system that offers customisation and personalisation in a way that’s never been done before, says Nanoleaf.

Featuring sleek modular square light panels in two sizes, Squares and Small Squares that can be combined with Textured Square light panels, Light Pegboards and Shelves, the Blocks line creates vibrant statement art, a sleek storage solution and a unique way to show off items all at once.

Blocks feature a completely re-engineered and upgraded light panel design with edge to edge illumination for evenly diffused lighting, eliminating hot spots and dark corners for a smooth, even look. The square shape is also a versatile design, allowing users to set up everything from clean linear styles to more abstract layouts, like framing existing decor, forming pixel art inspired layouts, or creating grand geometric designs.

Blocks are available for pre-order now and will be shipping at the end of October.

Meanwhile, the Sense+ Smart Wireless “Anywhere” Switch is a configurable light switch and motion/daylight sensor offering full control of a home’s lighting from anywhere. Place the Sense+ Switch in virtually any spot in a home — by the doorway, bedside, sofa — for wireless control of all of any Nanoleaf lights.

The Switch features two configurable buttons which can be set to six different actions, from instantly turning on favourite colours, to everyday white lighting, or even Scenes to set the mood of an entire room at once. Users can also easily adjust the brightness with the dimmer controls on the switch.

Developed with Nanoleaf’s Sense+ technology to intelligently combine motion and daylight sensing, the Sense+ Switch creates a completely hands-free lighting experience, turning lights on right when someone enters a room, and off again when they leave.

With daylight sensing, users can automate their lights based on surrounding ambient lighting conditions, remaining off during the day and turning on as the sun sets. Sensor settings can also be adjusted in the Nanoleaf App.

Sense+ uses Nanoleaf’s new proprietary Litewave technology, designed to create seamless, robust and reliable communication between devices. Control with Matter over Thread is also available via early access for Apple Home and Samsung SmartThings.

Sense+ is on pre-order now and will begin shipping out at the end of October.

Nanoleaf has also announced two new smart features in the Nanoleaf Desktop App: the Orchestrator’s advanced music synchronisation technology and Scenescapes, an immersive light and sound experience.

Whether listening to pop, R&B, EDM or classical music, Orchestrator uses real-time song detection and analysis algorithms to create colour palettes and animated motions curated to each individual song.

Whereas Nanoleaf’s Rhythm feature reacts to all sound picked up by the light’s built-in mic, Orchestrator connects directly to a PC’s audio source (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and more), eliminating any ambient noise interference and producing accurate and mesmerising music visualiser light shows.

Users can explore different Scenescape experiences like gentle ocean waves or a cosy crackling fireplace, or as background ambience while reading, working or relaxing.

Orchestrator is currently in beta via the Nanoleaf Desktop App, while Scenescape is planned for release in October.

The Permanent Outdoor Lights will be available in Europe in 2025.
