Magico launches S7 2026 loudspeaker

Magico has launched the S7 2026 loudspeaker, a 384-pound, five-driver, three-way loudspeaker that the brand describes as “the ultimate expression of the S Series legacy”.

The S Series was redefined in 2023 with the debut of the S3. The following year brought the larger, more ambitious S5. In late 2024, Magico unveiled the compact S2. Now, the journey reaches its pinnacle with the S7, which is the result of an extensive research and development program that introduced advanced engineering methodologies now fundamental to the flagship M Series.

During development, Magico employed a Near-Field Scanner (NFS) robot to perform comprehensive acoustic measurements across the entire 3D sphere surrounding the loudspeaker. This analysis of on- and off-axis behavior produced a complete acoustic map of the S7, enabling Magico engineers to refine its performance with precision. The manufacturer claims the result is a loudspeaker that “approaches the theoretical ideal for a muli-way design”.

The S7’s large aluminium enclosure features a curved, sculpted form refined through advanced 3D simulation to dramatically reduce internal resonances. The structure enhances rigidity while enabling Magico’s proprietary damping techniques to perform at their highest level. The curved front baffle further minimises diffraction, improving overall acoustic performance.

Using a Laser Vibrometer, Magico engineers identified even the most minute cabinet vibrations and the sound pressure they generated. This forensic level of analysis allowed unwanted resonances to be eliminated early in the design process, achieving one of the S7’s most critical objectives: a cabinet that contributes no audible colouration.

A further result of this optimisation, the S7’s internal volume has been increased from 135 liters to 180 liters compared to the previous S Series flagship. This expansion extends bass response by an additional 5Hz while maintaining the same speaker sensitivity.

At the heart of the S7 is Magico’s Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone, featuring an aluminum-honeycomb core sandwiched between graphene-reinforced carbon-fiber skins. This structure achieves a combination of low mass, rigidity and superior damping, resulting in low distortion.

Complementing the cone design is an all-new, third-generation driver chassis developed over three years of intensive research. This re-engineered platform improves force distribution, refines suspension geometry and employs a dual-post architecture to balance dynamic wire tension. The result is stiffness with optimal damping, minimised resonance and improved airflow for cleaner, more accurate sound.

Drawing from technology first realised in the M Project loudspeaker, the S7 employs three woofers vertically aligned. This configuration mitigates floor-bounce effects and smooths in-room frequency response, producing more predictable and linear midbass performance in real-world listening environments.

The S7’s high-frequency performance is anchored by a tweeter derived directly from the M Series. Extensive FEA modeling was used to acoustically optimise the tweeter’s back chamber, resulting in high-frequency reproduction rich in nuance, texture, and transparency.

Midrange is handled by a 6in driver featuring a 3in Etanium voice coil housed in Magico’s third-generation chassis. Utilising the Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone, along with a full copper cap and oversized neodymium magnets, this driver delivers performance in both frequency response.

For low-frequency reproduction, the S7 surpasses every S Series model before it. Three 10in woofers – each equipped with a 5in Etanium voice coil, Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone, large copper cap and half an inch of linear excursion – deliver bass that is both deep and controlled.

The S7’s five drivers are unified through Magico’s EllipEcal Symmetry Crossover (ESXO), a three-way design employing acouscal-target 24dB Linkwitz-Riley slopes. This approach maintains phase and frequency linearity while reducing intermodulation distortion, allowing the drivers to operate as a single, cohesive system.

The ESXO crossover incorporates an array of state-of-the-art components from Mundorf of Germany. For the first Eme in an S Series loudspeaker, the S7 also features CAST PP Radial capacitors from Duelund Coherent Audio of Denmark.

Supporting the enclosure is a precision-engineered three-foot support system featuring constrained-layer damping and premium materials, further enhancing mechanical stability and sonic performance.

The Magico S7 2026 begins shipping in Q3 of this year, engineered at Magico’s facility in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California and available in 12 colour options.

There are two finish levels with six curated colours in each: ‘Softec’ with a UK RRP of £159,000 per pair, and ‘High Gloss’ with a UK RRP of £178,000 per pair (inc. VAT).

Absolute Sounds is the sole UK distributor of Magico loudspeakers.
