Lyngdorf Audio has added the space-saving D-5 IC N in-ceiling speaker to its Discreet custom installation series, designed for custom installations in home cinemas, media rooms and living rooms.
Its key features are a low-resonance MDF enclosure to ensure best sound quality and an angled, adjustable tweeter, which allows the sound to beam from the ceiling towards the listening area.
The D-5 IC N replaces the former D-5 IC in-ceiling model, while “N” stands for a narrower enclosure to fit tighter spaces.
The Lyngdorf Discreet models are designed as installation speakers for in-wall or in-ceiling integration. As with other models in the range, the D-5 IC N comes with its own MDF speaker enclosure, making system planning and the actual installation as easy as possible, with no aftermarket backbox or closed wall cavity required.
This also ensures that the sound performance is always defined and consistent, depending less on the wall construction and the available space behind the wall and prevents resonances and sound leakage.
The “N” stands for a narrow enclosure, specifically designed to fit narrow mounting spaces between joists and bars in the ceiling. Both drive units are placed as close together as possible to achieve the best sound radiation.
The D-5 IC N’s white, paintable and magnetically held front grill is square to visually match the square surround and rear speaker D-5.
The D-5 IC N features an angled, adjustable tweeter. This construction allows the sound to beam towards the listening area instead of simply beaming downwards. This makes it the ideal speaker solution, for example when used as height speakers for immersive audio, mounted above in front, at the sides, or behind the listeners. The tweeter radiation can further be fine-tuned after installation.
The Lyngdorf Discreet series now consists of seven speakers and two woofers: D-500, D-500 Center, D-5, D-5 IC N, D-6, D-60, D-60 C as installation speakers and DW-1 and DW-10 as shallow in-wall woofers.
The D-5 IC N production has now started at Lyngdorf Audio in Skive, Denmark.
