The Cleerline Technology Group has introduced the SSF-SERIAL-RUGGED, a two-piece IP40 industrial rated converter that delivers critical serial-to-fibre and back conversion for extreme environments such as weather boxes, outdoor lockers, and other harsh locations.
This new rugged converter enables integrators to provide the performance and durability of a fiber infrastructure while connecting to an array of commercial and residential devices for applications such as lighting, access control, automated pool covers, HVAC systems, and more.
“Integrators must be able to install electronics in extreme environments that provide interface, control, and feedback of connected systems reliably—and offering the durability and performance of a Cleerline fiber infrastructure represents a significant advantage over legacy copper conductors,” explains Rick Sant, Managing Partner at Cleerline Technology Group.
“Our new IP40-rated converter easily facilitates connectivity between fiber and RS-232 or RS-485 devices within our fibre infrastructure, creating an industrial grade connectivity solution with unprecedented reliability.”
Integrator Testimonial
“The Cleerline IP-40 rated serial-to-fibre converter is a go-to solution for us here at ResCom Electric and Integration because it’s durable, non-conductive, and allows us to install fibre that delivers massive bandwidth for the gates and remote lighting projects we design and install for our clients,” adds Rich Conklin, Principal Engineer at Michigan based ResCom Electric.
“We do commercial projects with numerous remote buildings as well as residential developments and luxury homes where communication to the gate could be a mile away—and Cleerline’s serial-to-fibre converter frees us from having to deploy costly additional processors—their fiber infrastructure and rugged IP-rated devices are an effective and reliable solution for us.”
Technically Speaking
The Cleerline industrial rated IP40 SSF-SERIAL-RUGGED converter operates in extreme environments (-40°C to 75°C /-40°F to 167°F), transmitting over a single fibre, either single-mode or multimode.
This converter ships as a matched set and easily installs to allow reliable, extended serial connections. The converter accommodates a wide 12V-52V voltage input and is compliant with IEC and EN standards for industrial grade equipment.
