2N is introducing a modernised approach to software support that extends the practical lifespan of devices while reducing long-term operating costs. The strategy combines the introduction of Long-Term Support (LTS) for selected products with the launch of a new-generation configuration environment, 2N OS 3.0, available across most of the current 2N portfolio.
Building management today faces a dual challenge: rising cybersecurity requirements on one hand and growing pressure to reduce total cost of ownership on the other. Short software life cycles in IoT devices often lead to premature hardware replacement, even though the equipment itself could reliably operate for many more years.
“System integrators told us they want speed, clarity and consistency – without sacrificing reliability,” says Tomáš Vystavěl, Chief Product Officer at 2N. “With 2N OS 3.0, we’re delivering a modern interface that simplifies everyday work while remaining flexible enough to support long product lifecycles in real-world deployments.”
Built on the foundations of the existing web UI and shaped by extensive system integrator feedback, the new interface is optimised to deliver a cleaner, faster and more intuitive experience.
Highlights include a redesigned dashboard screen, an intelligent installation and configuration wizard to speed deployment, full-text search across the interface and a unified visual design aligned with 2N Access Commander.
The new interface is already available across most of the current 2N portfolio, including selected IP intercoms (2N IP Style, Verso 2.0, Force 2.0, and IP One); Access Unit readers; answering units and devices like the SIP Speaker Horn, LiftIP 2.0, and Sentrio. However, some legacy products are excluded due to hardware limits..
To address the mismatch between long-lived building hardware and fast-moving software mainly because of the importance of security patches, 2N is also introducing a Long-Term Support (LTS) model. Under this approach, the legacy products receive security updates and bug fixes without functional changes. For older intercoms without the AXIS ARTPEC processor and the 2N SIP Speaker, 2N OS 2.50 becomes both the final major release and the first LTS version, focused solely on stability and security.
For property owners and facility managers, LTS means stronger cybersecurity, lower operating costs through extended hardware lifespans and improved sustainability. Each product benefits from a support horizon of ‘five years after End-of-Life’.
