Simon RowleyOrigin Acoustics, an architectural audio and electronics expert, has introduced two new models to its Director Collection of premium architectural loudspeakers – the D101 and D103DT. Bigger in performance, but not in size.
By utilising Origin’s unique mounting system structure, these new 10″ speakers appear on the ceiling as if only containing a smaller 8″ woofer. The aesthetics are pleasing to the client (and designer) and the larger sized loudspeaker performance is well-suited for large rooms and theatres.
The larger woofer takes advantage of high ceilings and extended frequencies to produce more powerful lows. “Any ceiling over 10 feet can take advantage of these larger woofers,” says Nick Berry, CEO of Origin Acoustics.
The D101 is a two-way loudspeaker with a 1″ silk-dome tweeter and 10″ polypropylene/butyl-rubber woofer. The D103DT features a dual aluminium tweeter configuration, specifically for a stereo signal, and an injection-moulded graphite woofer. Each locks securely into place using the same bayonet ring system and hides behind the micro-perforated magnetic grille used with the entire Director Collection series.
