OneAV is now distributing MOTIV, a new building automation brand from Niko Home Control, to electricians, smart home installers and integrators across the UK.
Built on the Niko Home Control platform, MOTIV is a new brand and a new generation of products, still running on technology many installers already know. Niko describes MOTIV as the gradual evolution of Niko Home Control; and MOTIV solutions remain backwards compatible with the existing platform.
MOTIV brings together lighting, climate, shading, ventilation, energy, access and automation within one connected building control system, giving installers a flexible solution for projects ranging from new builds and major renovations to retrofit and smaller upgrades.
MOTIV can be specified across bus wiring, traditional 230 V wiring and hybrid installations, allowing the system architecture to be matched to the project.
The range includes a new generation of user interfaces, including Sense3 and Touch10, designed for intuitive control and a premium finish. Behind those interfaces sit the controllers, modules, sensors and interfaces needed for a complete installation.
For installers, the proposition extends beyond the controls themselves, with the wider system providing the controllers, modules, sensors and interfaces required to build a complete installation.
MOTIV adds a building automation layer to OneAV’s existing portfolio. Alongside Umbra for smart shading and blinds and HDA and uControl for AV distribution and control, installers can now source building automation, shading and AV from one trade-focused supplier.
OneAV is working with Moss Technical to support MOTIV in the UK. Moss Technical brings specialist knowledge and long experience with Niko Home Control, including technical guidance and installer support. OneAV provides distribution, product availability and the route to market.
The partnership is intended to give installers both the products and the technical backing to specify and deliver projects with confidence.
As more customers want technology that works together rather than as separate systems, building automation is becoming a larger part of electrical and smart home work. MOTIV gives installers a platform that can start with individual functions and grow to whole-building control.
“MOTIV gives us an opportunity to bring building automation to more installers while building on technology that many already know,” says Joe Wilks, Head of Partnerships, OneAV. “We have the distribution infrastructure and the wider technology portfolio; our partnership with Moss Technical adds the specialist knowledge behind the system. Together, that gives installers a clear route from specification through to installation and support.”
