The National Careers Service has officially launched a dedicated job profile for the role of Smart Home Installer, marking a significant milestone for the smart home industry.

This new addition provides a clear career path for those interested in joining the sector – previously unrepresented among the 700+ job titles listed on the site – and is the first related directly to the CEDIA channel.

The National Careers Service provides high-quality, free and impartial guidance on learning, training, and work opportunities, helping individuals make informed career decisions.

Available to all adults in England over the age of 13, the service plays a crucial role in shaping the workforce.

The new Smart Home Installer profile includes comprehensive details on salary expectations, daily responsibilities, relevant CEDIA credentials, available apprenticeship opportunities, career path and progression, and more.

It reflects a growing recognition of working within the smart home industry as a career option, aligned with CEDIA’s ongoing mission to advance the sector and its workforce opportunities.

“With so many careers listed on the National Careers Service website, I felt it would be beneficial that Smart Home Installer be included. I enquired about the possibilities and collaborated with CEDIA for their input and expertise in providing the necessary information for the job profile,” says James Ratcliffe, Managing Director at Homeplay and CEDIA Board member.

“I firmly believe this initiative helps solidify Smart Home Installer as a legitimate career path and will be particularly useful for school and college leavers using this resource to explore potential careers. Overall, I think the time invested in this will positively impact the future of our industry, while also highlighting the qualifications CEDIA offers for training and certifying professionals.”

“This is a great win for us as it firmly identifies the career opportunity for those seeking to join the workforce in our industry,” adds Matt Nimmons, Managing Director of CEDIA EMEA. “It showcases viable career paths in a field that continues to expand and evolve.”

This addition is expected to attract new talent and further solidify the smart home industry’s standing as a dynamic and growing sector within the UK’s job market. CEDIA is working with the National Careers Service to promote this new role and engage potential candidates through various channels.
