Lutron Electronics, creator of luxury architectural lighting, window treatments and intuitive controls, has announced the launch of the Aviena toggle keypad. Designed for seamless integration with Lutron’s HomeWorks system, Aviena has been created to pair refined elegance with effortless, tactile control and will be available Q3 of 2025.
This addition to Lutron’s premium control lineup blends heritage-inspired aesthetics with intuitive functionality. Hand-finished in solid brass and featuring a weighted mechanical toggle switch, the Aviena toggle keypad represents a timeless, design-driven solution for luxury spaces, says Lutron. The maker says designers and specifiers can now incorporate this elegant keypad into their projects, delivering both visual distinction and elevated user experience in any high-end interior.

Signature finishes: Available in seven of Lutron’s Signature Metal finishes, Aviena offers a unified design aesthetic when paired with Alisse keypads and other premium Lutron devices. Finishes include Aged Brass, Aged Bronze, Brushed Brass, Satin Nickel, Bright Chrome, Graphite and Champagne.
Flexible configuration: Supports configurations of up to four-toggle switches, adapting to various control needs with precision and ease, with options for single-line engraved text and iconography.

Aviena deep dive
Speaking exclusively to Essential Install, Kiana Pourrahimi, Sales Director at Lutron, explains how the new product is following a developing in-home trend, “The trend of embedding advanced technology into traditional switch designs has been steadily gaining momentum. At the forefront of this evolution, we have prioritised simplicity and user-centric design.
“Following the launch of Palladiom, which introduced a four-button keypad, we took another significant step forward with the Alisse keypad. Alisse embraced a minimalist approach, featuring a single-button configuration that streamlined user interaction without compromising functionality or aesthetics. While each button could perform multiple tasks, the design philosophy was rooted in simplicity and clarity, ensuring that users could intuitively control their environment with ease. However, we recognised a gap in our offerings – the traditional aesthetic (Aviena).”
Kiana explains, “Designers and homeowners alike have expressed a preference for the classic toggle keypad. While the functionality of a keypad is appreciated, its modern appearance sometimes clashes with the desire for a more traditional look. Homeowners seek the advanced features of a keypad while preserving their intent to create a traditional ambience.
“In response, we introduced a solution that aligns with the Alisse design language but caters to those seeking a more traditional appearance. This approach ensures that our products meet diverse design preferences without sacrificing functionality.
“The integration of advanced technology into traditional switch designs is not merely a trend but a response to the evolving needs and preferences of users. By blending innovation with tradition, we aim to deliver products that are both functionally superior and aesthetically pleasing, ensuring a seamless blend of modern technology and classic design.”
EI was curious if this was a particularly strong demand inside the Lutron customer base, Kiana says, “Absolutely. At Lutron, we recognise that design preferences are deeply personal and can vary significantly among our customers. Some individuals favour modern aesthetics, appreciating sleek lines and minimalist designs, while others are inclined towards traditional styles, valuing classic elements and timeless appeal. Understanding this diversity, we’ve committed to offering solutions that cater to both ends of the spectrum – and everything in between.
“This approach ensures that all our customers can find a solution that aligns with their design vision, reinforcing our dedication to providing versatile and user-centric products.”
Underlining what Lutron feels the product’s strongest selling points are, Kiana points to consistent design language. “We meticulously preserved the design integrity of the Alisse family, ensuring that Aviena aligns aesthetically with its predecessor. The geometry and proportions are consistent, including the precise diameter of the circular space where the toggle sits, mirroring the Alisse button and ensuring visual continuity across the product line.
Premium materials are also important, “Crafted from solid brass, Aviena reflects our commitment to quality,” says Kiana, “The choice of brass is non-negotiable, as it provides a luxurious finish, durability and ability to achieve desirable finishes. We utilise the same high-quality brass employed in Alisse, Aviena and Vierti lines, ensuring a consistent, high-end finish throughout.”
Optimal wall positioning and tactile feedback are also important aspects. “Drawing from extensive experience, we’ve determined that a 3mm plate thickness offers the ideal balance. It sits slightly proud of the wall, providing a tactile presence without being obtrusive, enhancing the overall design.
“The mechanical ‘click’ of the toggle is paramount. We’ve fine-tuned the tactile feedback to ensure each interaction feels purposeful and refined, delivering a sense of intentionality and luxury.”
Streamlined integration for installers is of course also high on the agenda. Kiana underlines, “Understanding the challenges installers face, we’ve designed Aviena to integrate seamlessly into our existing system. Unlike third-party toggles, which can require substantially more programming time, Aviena is programmed like any other Lutron keypad – streamlining installation and saving time during commission.
