The boutique Hotel 1231 in Toruń, Poland, has equipped its theatre room, Cinema 1410, with a Sony VPL-VW760ES projector. The hotel is located at the site of the ruins of a former Teutonic Castle and consists of two buildings connected with an underground corridor.
This audiovisual concept required utmost precision. No component could interfere with the structure, and the aesthetics of the sound system had to fit in with the architecture. The acoustics were a very important aspect, requiring a professional and reliable assessment.
The sound system had to work efficiently, without disturbing the atmosphere of the venue and while ensuring guest comfort. The project was carried out by Avalon Olgierd Lichociński.
“From the beginning, we knew just how to combine modernity and history into one. Toruń is a city of numerous film events and festivals, such as Camerimage. We provided top-quality technological solutions, integrated perfectly with the historic atmosphere of the space. Today, Cinema 1410 has one of the most beautiful, intimate cinema rooms in Poland. It is based on a Sony VPL-VW760ES projector,” says Olgierd Lichocinski, Avalon.
The cinema projector was chosen on the basis of its technical parameters, optics and image detail. The Sony VPL-VW760ES was chosen because of the high quality of the content displayed in 4K using SXRD technology combined with a laser light source and Motionflow. Also, the projector is operated by an external controller integrated into the whole AV system of the cinema.
Thanks to advanced SXRD panel technology, the projector delivers rich blacks, a smooth image and clearly visible movement. Optimum sharpness is ensured not only by the optical system, but also the Digital Focus Optimiser. HDR technology (High Dynamic Range) makes it possible to take full advantage of the potential of UHD Blu-ray discs and streaming video services.
The image processor in the VPL-VW760ES projector enables the use of Motionflow technology, portraying movement smoothly and clearly when displaying 4K films. The laser light source reportedly requires virtually no maintenance and allows even 20,000 hours of use of the device.
Cinema 1410 at Hotel 1231 can accommodate 23 people and facilitates 4H HDR projection combined with a Dolby Atmos THX sound system.
“The exceptional quality of the screenings at Cinema 1410 guarantees that all the best qualities of the film are fully reproduced. The certainty and reliable quality mean that Cinema 1410 can screen films from a wide range of renowned distributors and thus combine exceptional technical quality with artistic quality, which is exactly what Cinema 1410 audiences expect. Each time, they find that the film is shown in a way that reflects its creators’ vision,” says Jędrzej Musiela, Hotel 1231.
