Yamaha’s history is littered with HiFi Separates, something the company is very proud of, but now there’s yet another – with the company announcing the A-S1100 Stereo Integrated Amplifier.

The A-S1100 joins the A-S700 and a-S2100 in Yahama’s amplifier range, promising to deliver ‘great value’ for money for customers requiring a smooth and natural sound, without the expense normally involved.

Just like the A-S21000, the A-S1100 utilises a single-ended amplifier design using Yamaha’s balanced amplifier method which is based on the floating and balanced power amp technology used in the A-S3000.

Yamaha has also managed to squeeze in MOSFET technology, which is said to produce a similar sound characteristic to a valve amplifier.

Users will also find a discretely configured phono-equaliser and high-precision electronic volume control module under the hood, as well as volume/tone circuitry that should minimise sound quality deterioration.

Sticking to its roots, Yamaha is utilising an original EI transformer to power the A-S1100, which has been customised for optimum compatibility with the chassis.

This has been combined with four large capacity carbon sheath block capacitors which Yamaha claims delivers an energetic sound, even when at high volumes.

The A-S1100 may be the company’s major announcement, but it has also announced a newly revamped CD-S1000.

If you’re familiar with the old iteration, then this model has largely been unchanged apart from a few minor changes under the hood and a new colour option.

The A-S1100 is available from Summer 2015 with prices starting at £1,399.95.
