Precision engineered to deliver an elite level of signal processing and versatility to the heart of every two-channel audio playback system, the P1 is LUMIN’s most versatile design to date.
For customers looking for a high-quality streamer, a DAC, a pre-amplifier, or all three, the P1 delivers without compromise, says the maker. The P1’s design, which is dual-mono from input to output, involves dual Femto re-clocking oscillators, dual ES9028PRO SABRE DACs, 32-bit precision volume control with LEEDH processing and a fully-balanced analogue output stage (also employed by the flagship LUMIN X1 player), fed by a new dual-toroidal linear power supply.
No fewer than nine digital/analogue inputs provide access to the P1’s audiophile topology. The XMOS USB input supports native DSD512 and PCM384, while TOSLINK, SPDIF (RCA) and AES inputs support up to 192kHz 24bit data. Three HDMI 2.0 inputs support 2.0 PCM audio decoding and the passthrough of HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS via an ARC compatible HDMI output. Meanwhile, balanced XLR and co-axial RCA input/outputs handle pure analogue signals with the care expected of a traditional high-performance preamplifier. Additionally, PCM and DSD up-sampling is available for any digital input, while a dual-network interface manages switching between the P1’s Ethernet and SFP fibre ports, providing complete isolation from network noise.
Control over playback and settings, input selection, per-input volume memory and custom input labels is available from the LUMIN app or via a sleek new Roon-ready handheld remote, precision-made in Austria from acrylic and zinc. The new infrared receiver built into the LUMIN P1 is compatible with universal remote controls, phones, and automation systems.
Its creator says this means that as a network player, hi-fi hub, or 2-channel AV system via HDMI ARC, the P1 will deliver exceptional low-noise/high resolution audio purity and extraordinary value.
