AliceQED has declared that its loudspeaker cables are the ‘world’s easiest to terminate’, stating the reason to be that QED has already done the job for its consumers.
“To overcome the common problems associated with conventional speaker cable geometries – high capacitance and high inductance – QED speaker cables incorporate proprietary technologies such as QED X-Tube and QED Aircore,” explains Jack Fox, QED’s brand manager.
“However, the one downside of these technological advances is the time it takes to terminate the cables. Because to perform at their very best they require a precise termination process. But this is a problem no longer, as we are pleased to introduce our new pre-terminated speaker cable range.”
The new pre-terminated cables are available now from authorised stockists worldwide.
They all come fitted with high quality 4mm plugs using QED’s Airloc cold weld system.
The introduction of pre-terminated cables has no effect on the availability of ‘bare’ (un-terminated) QED speaker cables.

At low frequencies both X-TubeTM and conventional stranded/solid core speaker cables convey signals in a linear way.
However, at high frequencies, the current flow in standard speaker cables is highest at the periphery, with rapidly deteriorating current density towards the centre of the conductor.
The effect of this is to reduce the actual cross sectional area of the cable at 15kHz to less than 75% of that at low frequencies.
At the same high frequencies, X-TubeTM retains a near-linear signal transfer because its polycore technology exhibits much lower self-inductance and is therefore less affected by this problem.
The polycore technology reduces loop inductance to levels only achievable using more costly and difficult to terminate cables.
