Just in time for England vs Belgium tomorrow, TP Vision has announced the release of a new app for Philips Ambilight or Ambilux TVs. The new app is called ‘Wave your flag’ and is designed to make watching the 2018 World Cup even more interactive and immersive.
Ambilight TVs are already a great way for consumers to immerse themselves into the on-screen action, thanks to the projection of light that is beamed onto the wall behind the TV matching the colours of what’s currently showing on screen. The ‘Wave the flag’ app is set to take that even further, however. Using the app users will be able to change the Ambilight effect to project the flag of any one of the 32 national teams that have qualified for the World Cup onto the wall during the match.
A special “Versus” mode allows both the home viewers to host a football viewing party with their national team flag projected on one side and their opponent’s colours shown from the opposing side of the TV – to intensify competition in the viewing room. Alternatively, viewers can upload a favourite football image to link with the Ambilight effect.
Wave your flag’ can also be used to celebrate goals and victories – through a virtual firework display or a stadium wave – and can also be used to highlight fouls, red cards & penalties.
Even the cheers of the football party can be detected – via the activated mic in the user’s phone or a tablet – and used to intensify the Ambilight light show, encouraging fans to cheer their team to victory.
How To Get The App
The Philips ‘Wave your flag’ app is free and available for both iOS and Android. After downloading the app, simply swipe top select the flag and then the opposing side’s flag and then tap the Kick Off button. During the game, users can interact with the game, celebrate victories and goals scored, handing out penalties, red and yellow cards and interactively cheer their team on.
Tapping on the interactivity button will cause the Ambilight to react, and the screen of the mobile device also mimics the Ambilight effect by also following the animation of the colours currently projected behind the set.
With new 2018 Philips Ambilight TV sets, a follow the flag feature has been added to the Ambilight TV menu settings.
