Brand’s latest introduction, the rack-mountable MIP200 power controller, offers ultimate protection for premium home audio systems says McIntosh.
McIntosh, global player in high-end audio technology, is proud to announce the launch of the MIP200 Power Controller, the latest innovation designed to safeguard listeners’ premium home audio investments from unexpected electrical disruptions. Whether it’s a surge from a lightning strike, overvoltage incident or brownout, the MIP200 offers protection, ensuring cherished audio components remain secure and functional.

The MIP200 Power Controller is engineered with advanced features to provide strong AC power protection. The maker says the thermally protected metal-oxide varistor (TPMOV) outperforms standard MOVs by eliminating common failure modes. The MIP200 doesn’t just stop at surge protection. It also includes electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering and programmable over/under voltage protection. When unsafe voltage levels are detected, the MIP200 automatically shuts off the outlets, only restoring power once conditions are safe.
Designed with versatility in mind, the MIP200 accommodates various global power standards, featuring either 4 Type B1 (NEMA 5-15R) outlets with 2 receptacles each, or 4 Type F1 (CEE 7/3 or ‘Schuko’) outlets with 1 receptacle each. An always-on, unswitched outlet ensures continuous power to critical components, while other outlets can be managed via the front panel, remote operation through the rear panel Power Control or RS232 ports or configured as additional always-on outlets. With programmable delays for each outlet, the MIP200 minimises inrush current, ensuring a safe startup for all connected devices and providing reduced risk of tripping circuit breakers.

The MIP200 is crafted tointegrate into custom home theater or whole-home audio systems. Its 2U rack-mountable form ensures easy installation, saving space while maintaining a clean and organised system layout. This design complements McIntosh’s range of custom installation amplifiers and AV processors, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
The front panel of the MIP200 features an AC line monitor that provides real-time data on input voltage, current draw and total apparent power, ensuring that users have precise control over the system’s power supply. Encased in McIntosh’s iconic black glass front panel with aluminum trim, illuminated logo, and aluminum control knobs, the MIP200 is not only a robust power controller but also a statement of luxury and sophistication.
The unit is available now to authorised McIntosh dealers with an MSRP of $3,000 USD / $4,200 CAD / €3,995 EUR / £3,795 GBP for end users. The brand is distributed in the UK by Fine Sounds UK.
