Marantz’s new offering for the home cinema market takes the form of the compact NR1607 network AV receiver, featuring high current discrete power transistors on all seven channels, Dolby Atmos immersive surround decoding (up to 5.1.2) and the promise of a future firmware update that will facilitate the decoding of DTS:X soundtracks.
Measuring less than 10cm high, the AV receiver features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with dual antennas and dual band for robust connection (even in Wi-Fi crowded areas), facilitating the streaming of music via AirPlay or Spotify Connect from 10,000 Internet radio stations or from local network storage drives – all the way through to high resolution audio.
The video section fully supports next generation 4K Ultra HD high resolution video, along with the latest HDMI specification including 4K 50/60Hz pass-through and HDCP 2.2 compatibility that is required for 4K copy-protected content.

It also features HDR and Wide Colour Gamut compatibility, key components of the BT.2020 4K Ultra HD video specification.
There are eight HDMI inputs including one conveniently located on the front panel, all of which support HDCP 2.2 compatibility, enough to connect modern HDMI devices such as Blu-ray players, game consoles or streaming set-top-boxes.
The NR1607 further owns an advanced video section to upscale analogue and digital source material up to Full HD 1080p or even 4K Ultra HD.
The manufacturer says that set-up is made easy due to the Graphical User Interface, Setup Assistant and Audyssey MultEQ room calibration.
A Marantz 2016 AVR Remote App is available for Android and iOS and the NR1607 includes a smart ECO mode that can automatically save electrical power without influencing the overall performance.
The NR1607 will be available in June in black or silver-gold colour finishes.
