LG is finally rolling out an update to its Music Flow speakers, which brings support for Google Home streaming capability, as well as multi-room audio functionality.
The LG Music Flow speakers were amongst the first to support Google Cast technology when they launched in 2015, although when Google Home was announced the company didn’t seem too bothered about supporting it. Instead, LG had already moved on to new products – including a smart fridge which includes Alexa support.
Following feedback, and a lot of criticism, from some of the company’s customers, LG finally caved. Announcing that Google Home support would be launched by the end of February. It’s now the beginning of March, and LG is finally confirming that the update is rolling out, slightly later than initially planned.
While Google Home support is a nice to have, allowing users to send music to Chromecast devices using their voice, users will also be pleased to see that the LG Music Flow speakers will integrate into a Chromecast-supported multi-room system. That means music can be played on multiple speakers from multiple manufacturer and in multiple rooms.
The firmware update is available now in the Music Flow app.
