LG Electronics has unveiled the LG Magnit Active Micro LED, a next-generation large-format display designed to bring professional-grade visual performance into luxury home cinemas. Featuring Active Matrix technology and Dolby Vision, the 136in 4K display delivers exceptional contrast, depth and clarity for a true cinematic experience.
The new Magnit joins LG’s premium home cinema lineup and is set to launch in Korea on October 21 before reaching key markets including North America. With a screen measuring around 3 metres wide by 1.7 metres tall, it offers 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, creating lifelike visuals and deep immersion.
By integrating Active Matrix technology, each self-emissive pixel generates its own light and is individually controlled. This provides precise picture reproduction and a major step forward from conventional Passive Matrix systems that address pixels by rows and columns. LG says this results in ultra-high-definition images with exceptional refinement and realism.
The display also benefits from LG’s proprietary surface treatment technology, which enhances black levels and minimises the impact of ambient light to maintain colour accuracy. The modular design aligns panels with precision to create a seamless screen, while flicker-free performance ensures comfortable long-term viewing.
For sound, the Magnit includes built-in 4.2-channel speakers delivering 100 watts of output and supports enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) for lossless high-quality playback.

At the heart of the system is LG’s α9 AI Processor 6th Generation, which analyses content to optimise every frame. The processor sharpens detail, recognises faces, text and backgrounds, and produces smoother motion with a 144Hz refresh rate—ideal for high-speed gaming and sports content.
Running on LG’s webOS smart platform, the display gives access to LG Channels and other OTT and gaming content, as well as LG Gallery+, which turns the screen into a digital art display featuring paintings and visual themes. The model supports both AirPlay 2 and Miracast for easy screen sharing with iOS and Android devices.
Dolby Vision compatibility brings a wide colour spectrum, sharp contrast and rich detail, while TÜV Rheinland’s Color Consistency Wide Viewing certification confirms the screen’s ability to deliver accurate colours from any angle.
Designed for home use, the Magnit Active Micro LED meets electromagnetic compatibility standards set by the FCC and has achieved Class 2 flammability certification from the British Standards Institution, confirming its suitability for indoor environments.
“With its impressive size that spans an entire wall in lifelike colours and stunning high-definition detail, the new LG Magnit Active Micro LED transforms a home into a true theatre, delivering an unmatched cinematic experience,” says Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.
LG also plans to evolve the platform into a scalable video wall solution, expanding its reach into the professional and B2B display markets.
It is notable that most of the major consumer electronics brands now see high-performance home cinema as a key category in their premium product portfolios. Large-screen displays and reference-grade audio are increasingly being positioned by global manufacturers as central to the modern luxury home. This growing recognition highlights how the line between professional cinema technology and high-end residential entertainment continues to blur, signalling a new era of investment and innovation in the home cinema sector.
