SpeakerCraft is hoping to encourage installers to adopt the Dolby Atmos standard by becoming the first manufacturer to develop in-wall speakers supporting the technology.

Dolby Atmos is already available on a wide variety of speakers but this is the first time it’s been made available on a series of in-wall speakers.

Shown off at CEDIA Expo 2015, SpeakerCraft’s latest in-wall speaker series are being positioned for users wanting the Dolby Atmos surround experience, while maintaining a discrete system that doesn’t include in-ceiling speakers.

According Matt Dever, Core Brands Product Manager, Audio, this marks the first development of an architectural in-wall speaker system and components that can meet all of the standards set by Dolby to certify Atmos-enabled.

Along with being the first Dolby Atmos-supported in-wall speaker series, this line-up consists of the first in-wall products for SpeakerCraft’s AIM Series 2 line.

The LCR and Height Speakers will also be sold individually, enabling installers to upgrade an existing in-wall speaker system to an Atmos-enabled system.

The Arrayed Point Source (APS) tweeters are the next evolution of the ARC Tweeter Array introduced with the in-ceiling AIM Series 2.

Additionally, the Atmos-enabled series will feature Acoustic Isolation Technology introduced with AIM Series 2, plus driver materials and electronics found in that same line.
