Jordan O'BrienSome of the popular products in the Panamax/Furman suite of remote power management products are finally headed to Europe, as parent organization Core Brands is demonstrating this week at ISE 2014.
The first BlueBolt product to hit the market is a Furman uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that has been shipping in the U.S. for four years – the 220v equivalent of the F1500-UPS.
John Benz, director of power and accessories for Core Brands, says power management has been an overlooked product category in Europe, where they might not get the kind of lightning strikes we get in the U.S., but where voltage is known to fluctuate.
On why it’s taken so long to bring such a product to the European market, Benz says it wasn’t a matter of swapping out some power supplies; the product had to be reinvented for the markets.
He notes that power management products like we see in the U.S. have been much slower to take off in Europe.
At ISE 2010, integrator Steve Moore of London-based SMC noted, “There’s still no decent power conditioning here. There’s so many in the U.S.”
Well, now there is.
The UPS will be followed in Europe by a Pro series power sequencer.
