HARMAN’s Revel has announced the introduction of the M55XC and M80XC Extreme Climate Outdoor Loudspeakers, two models specifically engineered and rigorously tested to perform to Revel’s exacting standards in any location that is hot, cold, damp, humid or wet.
The XC series has been specifically engineered for outdoor locations including under eaves, around decks, patios, and screened porches and hidden in trees and landscaping. They can also be used for indoor locations such as showers and saunas, or gymnasiums. Both models are resistant to corrosion from salt water and can be deployed in marine applications such as on docks and beachfront properties and even high-end yachts.
Both models are available in either black or white finish and feature 1in aluminium tweeters with Acoustic Lens waveguides for optimum coverage and integration with the woofers. The M55XC utilises a 5½in carbon-infused polypropylene cone woofer while the M80XC uses a more powerful 8in aluminium cone woofer. Both feature sealed polymer enclosures, weather-coated aluminium grilles, InvisiBall mounting systems, stainless steel screw terminal connectors and input terminal weather protection covers.
Harman says that these loudspeakers have the durability and longevity to optimally perform in harsh environments and the built-in 70V / 100V transformer with 8-ohm bypass allows for increased flexibility for large-scale installations.
“The M55XC and M80XC are perfect for the music lover who’s looking for an outdoor entertainment system that provides the best acoustic experience possible without sacrificing durability,” says Jim Garrett, director of marketing and product management, Harman.
“In conjunction with the C363XC and C383XC loudspeakers introduced last year and the three new landscape speakers also being introduced today, our Extreme Climate portfolio of loudspeakers has grown to seven models offering a comprehensive solution of great-sounding products for the outdoor audio market.”
The XC Series outdoor loudspeakers are a part of Revel’s extensive architectural loudspeakers range, all of which are timbre-matched to the component loudspeakers in the Concerta2, Performa3 and Ultima2 series.
The Revel XC Series outdoor loudspeakers will be available Q1 2017 with expected pricing of $600/pair for the M55XC and $900/pair for the M80XC.
