Libratone has already confirmed that it will be supporting AirPlay 2 on its portable speaker line-up, but now the audio manufacturer has said that users should expect to see the update in September.
While Libratone used to create home audio speakers, the firm has since decided to concentrate on portable offerings. Its ZIPP and ZIPP mini Bluetooth and Wi-Fi speakers are on the higher-end for portable speaker manufacturers, however. Being able to add them into a multi-room set-up makes the infinitely more useful.
Libratone is one of the first manufacturers to confirm a launch date for its AirPlay 2 support. The announcement follows confirmation from Sonos that AirPlay 2 support is coming in July, while Apple added the technology to its own HomePod speaker earlier this month.
AirPlay 2 is Apple’s next-generation audio streaming technology. It allows users to pair speakers from a variety of manufacturers into an entire multi-room system, while also offering the ability to stream music from an iPhone easily, or through Siri.
