Artcoustic Introduces The SUB 4-12 INFRA

Artcoustic has unveiled the Sub 4-12 INFRA, a new infra-subwoofer designed to deliver exceptional low-frequency performance in professional cinemas, residential home cinema installations and performance spaces where space is at a premium.

Built around four in-house-designed 12in long-throw drivers and a precision 6th-order bandpass enclosure, the Sub 4-12 INFRA delivers genuine infrasonic extension, reaching below 20 Hz with remarkable control, efficiency and accuracy.

According to Artcoustic, the aim from the outset was straightforward: create an infra-subwoofer capable of effortless energy beneath 20 Hz while maintaining a footprint compact enough to sit behind a cinema screen. Rather than relying on a single oversized driver, the engineering team developed four perfectly phase-aligned 12in units. Combined, they offer the surface area and excursion of a 24in driver while delivering lower distortion, superior thermal headroom and greater long-term reliability.

The result is a subwoofer designed to deliver extreme low-frequency extension with an installer-friendly build suited to modern DSP-driven amplification. Installers working in rooms where large enclosures are impractical gain access to the kind of infrasonic performance typically associated with much larger and more expensive designs.

Artcoustic says this makes the Sub 4-12 INFRA suitable for everything from high-end home cinema systems to commercial environments where consistent, controlled low-frequency energy is essential.

The Sub 4-12 INFRA has been engineered with versatility in mind, allowing it to be integrated into a wide variety of layouts. Its rigid enclosure and driver configuration mean it can be mounted vertically or horizontally on-wall or used as a compact floor-standing unit, with no compromise in performance.

Aesthetics remain a key part of Artcoustic’s Scandinavian design ethos. The subwoofer is available in standard black or white, with full custom finishing in any NCS 1950/2050 or RAL Classic colour, ensuring discrete integration behind screens or within architectural spaces.

“When we began developing the Sub 4-12 INFRA, we knew exactly what we wanted: a true infra-subwoofer capable of delivering linear, effortless energy below 20 Hz and to do so within a footprint that fits behind a cinema screen.

“In our early research, we found two recurring traits among competing products: they are physically very large and they are very expensive.

“We decided to take a completely different approach. Instead of one huge driver, we chose four precision 12-inch drivers working together in perfect phase alignment. In total cone area and linear excursion, this equals a massive 24-inch driver, but with far lower distortion, higher thermal power handling and greater reliability. To further optimise output and efficiency, we employed our proven 6th-order bandpass architecture, a design principle we have refined over many years. This allows us to achieve extreme low-frequency performance from a surprisingly compact enclosure.

“The tall, narrow cabinet was carefully engineered for maximum rigidity, minimal resonance and seamless installation behind cinema screens or within architectural spaces. The result is our most powerful and most extended subwoofer ever:

  • F10 at just 12 Hz — true infrasonic depth
  • 126 dB at 30 Hz — immense dynamic output
  • Compact footprint — easy to integrate, easy to hide
  • Lower cost than comparable infrasonic subs, without compromise in performance

“The Sub 4-12 INFRA represents the culmination of years of design evolution, where acoustic science meets installation practicality. It is built to work harder, play deeper and deliver an impact that feels effortless and real.”
