Habitech’s technical manager (and ISE 2016 presenter) Justin Martin-Lawrence has a wealth of experience in providing industry professionals with the latest news and revolutionary knowledge on the developing smart home industry.
With the home technology industry evolving each year, making your mark can be challenging. However, Justin was able to be recognised for developing the industry’s first multiroom audio system.
“When I started in the industry 25 years ago, the first multiroom audio systems were gaining traction,” Justin reflects.
“One of my first installations involved a rudimentary IR controlled system in a four-storey London town house, distributing to four zones from a single CD player. It led me to create my own design and manufacturing company and to develop the first multiroom audio system that allowed CD selection by name from any room.”
Presenting at this year’s ISE with his course ‘The Importance of Remote Management’, Justin will explore the requirements and opportunities for remote management of IP.
“We will provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges involved in the design of modern integrated systems by looking at the different types of remote management, identifying their strengths, their weaknesses, potential problems and the ways to overcome them.”
With CEDIA EMEA’s 2016 awards soon to be opening to entries, CE Pro Europe caught up with the winner of the 2015 award for Best Training Initiative for his project, ProNet Training.
An informative course that provided attendees with the knowledge and understanding of networking practices in CI.
“I was delighted! Three years ago we set up the ‘Pro-Net’ initiative with the aim of introducing the industry to IP networking through complementary hardware and training specifically targeted at custom installation. The response has been phenomenal and the recognition of CEDIA has really put the icing on the cake. Thank you!
“With the emergence of video distribution over IP I’ll be interested to see how far manufacturers have progressed with its implementation so we can prepare our customers for the challenges and the advantages of high bandwidth IP routing and switching,” he concludes.
