Dynaudio, the Danish speaker specialist, says it is bringing its 40 years of expertise, engineering and love of music to the UK’s custom installation industry and it’s teamed up with the team at Custom AV Distribution to make it happen.
The Dynaudio Custom Studio range has been created to harnesses the same core technology and research that have made the company’s Hi-Fi, pro-studio and automotive speakers successful.
The maker adds that it places it all in ingenious pre-install mounts, unique tool-free clip-in speaker modules, and completes the picture with near-invisible paintable magnetic grilles.
The product family consists of in-ceiling and in-wall speakers. Both come in 6.5in and 8in versions, and they all use Dynaudio’s 1in soft-dome tweeters. The in-ceiling speakers are angled 18˚ and can be rotated 360˚ in their mounts to fine-tune their firing direction.
They fit to the mounts without damaging (or re-doing) the walls or ceilings, and their paintable magnetic grilles ensure they’ll blend in. The in-wall frames mount either way up for even more flexibility and, like the in-ceiling units, feature Dynaudio’s patent-pending tool-free speaker-mounting mechanism.
A flexible system
Users with multichannel home-cinema systems can use Dynaudio’s in-wall speakers too, to ensure absolute tonal consistency.
There’s also an LCR variant – the S4-LCR65 system – which won best-in-show awards from CEPro and Residential Systems at 2017’s CEDIA Expo. It lets users create bespoke vertically or horizontally oriented left, centre and right three-way speaker channels that fit around wall-studs without cutting.
And because the grilles are independent of their frames, their positions can be adjusted to perfectly satisfy the strictest requirements of architects and interior designers.
All Dynaudio Custom Studio speakers use the company’s soft-dome tweeters with powerful neodymium magnet systems; proprietary MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cones; and large-diameter aluminium voice-coils with internal magnet systems.
It’s all proven technology that offers clear, accurate reproduction with optimised dispersion, excellent power-handling, eyebrow-raising dynamics and extremely low distortion – plus complete tonal consistency if users have a hybrid system of traditional Dynaudio speakers and Custom Studio models.
The company has teamed up with Custom AV Distribution to bring the range to market. “We chose Custom AV Distribution because they have the same love of sound as we do. CAVD understands premium brands and high-performance audio products, it already distributes several high-quality brands that complement our products, and it has excellent relationships with many of the UK’s top integrators. It’s the perfect match for our products,” says Peter Gibb, CI business development manager EMEA at Dynaudio.
“Adding Dynaudio’s new CI range to our line-up ends a year-long search for a no-compromise speaker brand. I’ve always loved Dynaudio’s traditional stereo speakers, so to be able to offer this level of technology and performance to custom installers is something I’m very excited about. Homes across the UK are going to sound better than ever,” says Jamie Pullen, MD of Custom AV Distribution.
He adds: “UK dealers will now have access to what CAVD sees as the best loudspeaker range currently in the world of custom installation. We’re confident that the easy-to-fit form factor and flexibility, coupled with studio-quality audio, will impress.”
Custom AV Distribution is currently taking bookings for demonstrations of the Dynaudio system – either at the dealer’s own premises or at the CAVD showroom in Marlow.
