Jordan O'BrienCEDIA has released its Training and Curriculum Guide 2016, which has been revamped to provide the home technology industry with information on its training courses, structured curriculum programme and career development pathways.
The 69-page guide is targeted at junior and senior installers, technicians, designers and business owners. It is designed to provide all the necessary information for its training courses, City & Guilds accreditation, education vouchers and readily available resources.
The guide takes readers through the natural pathway of its education programme, as it focuses on introduction courses, boot camp, technical school, networking school, designer school, business courses and members only courses.
“The Training and Curriculum Guide for 2016 has been revamped to ensure it provides the industry with all the necessary information to develop an education plan” comments Simon Buddle, CEDIA’s director of education.
“Over the last year, we have been developing new courses to strengthen our education offering, and this is reflected in the new guide, as there really is a course for everyone. We are also extremely proud of the steps we have taken with City & Guilds.”
Two of CEDIA’s pathways are now City & Guilds accredited, meaning that those who pass the Smart Home Technician or the Smart Home Designer exam will receive a joint certification from CEDIA and City & Guilds, as well as become endorsed within the sector.
For those who are starting out, the guide is a useful tool for understanding how to progress in the industry. It offers concise flowcharts and advice for new employees, as well as a number of training-based options.
Other parts of the guide are directed at those with more industry experience. There is also a dedicated business section, which focuses on a new two-part business course.
