CEDIA, the Association for Smart Home Professionals, has officially opened nominations for its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the most prestigious accolades in the global smart home industry.
First introduced in 1992, the award recognises individuals who have made a truly extraordinary and lasting impact on the professional smart home sector. It honours careers defined by innovation, leadership, and a dedication to shaping the future of the industry.
“As our industry continues to grow, it’s vital that we shine a light on the people who have left a legacy in the smart home profession,” says Daryl Friedman, Global President and CEO of CEDIA. “This award recognises careers that have not only advanced technology but also inspired others and strengthened the community as a whole.”
CEDIA is inviting the industry to submit nominations for candidates they feel are most deserving. Nominations close on May 24, 2026, and it is important to note that nominees will not be informed if they have been put forward. Each submission will be carefully reviewed by the CEDIA Board of Directors, who will select the recipient based on their career achievements, leadership qualities, and long-term influence on the smart home technology landscape.
The 2026 recipient will be celebrated alongside fellow CEDIA Smart Home Award winners across the Americas, Asia Pacific, and EMEA regions, highlighting the global nature of the industry and the collaborative spirit that drives it. Key deadlines include April 12 for Integrator categories, May 24 for Business, Individual, and Manufacturer Product categories, and an early bird deadline of April 24 for Manufacturer Product submissions.
CEDIA encourages everyone in the smart home community to consider who has truly shaped the industry. Who do you think has left an indelible mark on smart home technology? Now is the chance to recognise and celebrate their contributions.
