CEDIA is bringing its educational programmes to the North of England by partnering with Unicam to provide training at its Leeds office. The specialist distributor of home digital entertainment systems will kick-start its CEDIA education offering in July 2016.
CEDIA is aiming to provide the industry with easy access to education, with the association claiming that installers prefer face to face training courses, but often find it difficult to take time out the office to attend a session, especially when it requires several hours’ worth of travelling. By utilising Unicam as a CEDIA education host, the association can bring education to its northern members and eliminate the additional travel time.
Unicam will be hosting five CEDIA training sessions in July 2016.
The courses will include Essential Technical and Professional Skills for Installers; Cables, Connectivity and Structured Wiring Workshop; Basic Wired and Wireless Networking; Audio, Video and RF Systems for Installers and Rack Building & Wiring Fundamentals.
The training track is being touted as the ideal primer for junior installers and those new to the industry and those who attend the five courses – which form part of the City & Guilds 12 course Smart Home Technician track – will be on the first steps to completing one of the most comprehensive packages available under CEDIA’s education curriculum.

“We are thrilled to be working with CEDIA to make its training more accessible to northern home technology professionals,” comments Mark Trickett, Director of Unicam.
“We have recently invested a lot of time and money into developing a state-of-the-art facility, which includes a training room, so it is great that we can use this to support CEDIA. We look forward to welcoming both members and non-members to our HQ for a training session.”
