The UK’s only national show for signal reception and connectivity hosted by the CAI returns for 2017 at the National Motorcycle Museum on April 26.
Installers who ply their trade mainly in the signal reception and connectivity sectors have experienced interesting times since the end of the digital switch-over adjusting to a new market place.
To offer insights and support, the CAI has lined up a series of keynote speakers for this year’s show.
After a welcome and introduction by the CAI’s Chairman, Les Hampson, TrustMark’s chief executive, Simon Ayers will deliver his overview of where he sees TrustMark positioning itself following the government report on consumer standards and charters.
Next up, Freeview’s marketing director, Owen Jenkinson, who is keen to debunk the latest thinking on the Internet and mobile devices dominating future TV viewing habits. Owen will talk about the growth in viewer numbers for TV via an aerial, but also include Freeview’s plans for a ‘hybrid future’.
Owen will be followed by Kate Macefield 700 MHz project director at Digital UK. According to Ofcom, between 140,000 and 270,000 homes are estimated to be affected when existing services migrate to new spectrum area. How the affected viewers across the UK will be helped through this process will doubtless involve CAI members. Kate will deliver an update on how the strategy is evolving.
After lunch, Alex Buchan, principal RF engineer at the Digital TV Group, will be talking about the new material that is included in the DTG’s R-Book 7. This book has some definitive technical information regarding Freeview TV installation and 700 MHz, along with Sky Q distribution.
The CAI is still talking with other potential speakers, so the programme could well see addition in the near future. An added attraction this year is the return of the CAI Gala Awards Dinner on the evening of April 25 at the Arden Hotel near to the show location.
The event also features its normal trade show floor with industry stakeholders offering insights into their products and services. More information is available here.
