Audio Technology Switzerland SA launches Nagra Compact Player

Audio Technology Switzerland SA has announced the launch of the Nagra Compact Player, a new addition to its portfolio designed to bring the brand’s high-end audio performance into a more accessible, compact form factor.

Introduced on 25 February 2026 from Romanel, Switzerland, the Compact Player has been developed to deliver authentic musical reproduction while maintaining the engineering principles and sonic characteristics associated with Nagra.

The Nagra Compact Player is a complete high-end digital source, combining an advanced streaming architecture with an integrated digital-to-analogue conversion stage. It is built around a state-of-the-art D/A converter, supported by Nagra’s proprietary clock implementation and carefully managed power regulation. The design reflects the company’s established engineering approach, with a focus on precision, stability and overall system coherence.

In terms of performance, the Compact Player is engineered to deliver a balanced and natural sound. The presentation is described as fluid and harmonically complete, with stable imaging and a well-defined soundstage. Bass performance is controlled and extended, while dynamic contrasts are handled without strain. Attention has also been given to maintaining clarity and detail without over-emphasising analytical characteristics, supporting a cohesive and realistic listening experience.

The unit has been designed with modern living environments in mind, where audio systems are often integrated into multi-purpose spaces. Its chassis is CNC-machined from a solid aluminium billet, providing rigidity and resistance to vibration, which supports low-noise digital operation. The compact footprint allows for straightforward integration into a variety of installations, including space-conscious residential settings.

The Compact Player supports a range of streaming services, including Qobuz, Tidal, Spotify and AirPlay 2, alongside playback from local libraries via UPnP/DLNA or USB storage. Control is managed through a mobile interface, enabling straightforward access to content and system operation.

Positioned within the wider Nagra ecosystem, the Compact Player is intended to act as an accessible entry point to the brand’s range of audio solutions. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Switzerland, it maintains the same focus on build quality and sonic integrity found across the company’s portfolio. It can be used as the central source in a high-performance system, connected directly to a power amplifier or active loudspeakers, or as part of a secondary system.

In line with Nagra’s approach to long-term product development, the Compact Player has been designed to support future upgrades. Optional additions, including a dedicated external power supply and enhanced vibration control solutions, allow users to further develop system performance over time. These upgrades are intended to reduce noise, improve operational stability and enhance overall sonic precision.

The UK RRP is £5,998 inc. VAT. Distribution in the UK is via Absolute Sounds.
