This is the fifth consecutive year that XL Video has been involved in the production of the Olivier Awards.
Assistance wasn’t only needed at the Royal Opera House however, with XL Video also supporting the outdoor stage in Covent Garden Pizza.
The show’s set was designed by Es Devlin, who also won the XL Video sponsored ‘Best Set Design’ award for her work on ‘The Nether’ at the Duke of York’s theatre.
A large centrally flown screen, 10.8m x 3.6m, formed from XL Video’s ROE Visual MC-7T 7mm LED, was used as the main presentation screen.
The screen was divided into three sections with the central area used to display footage from the red carpet entrances, broadcast cameras in the Royal Opera House and live feeds from the ITV Stage in Covent Garden.
During segments with live broadcast feeds, the side sections were used for logos, stings and other content fed from one of XL Video’s Mac Pro-based media servers, running Catalyst v5.
The screen was lowered to stage level and used as a single backdrop for performances from the casts of ‘Sunny Afternoon’ and ‘City of Angels’.
XL Video also brought along two of its Barco Encore2 screen management systems, one used for the live broadcast feeds and one for backup content.
The company also provided the LED screens and content playback systems for the outdoor stage, with two screens, one on each side of the stage, measuring 4m x 2.2m.
