Sony has announced a whole new family of touchscreen overlays for its BRAVIA Professional Displays. With a slim profile and easy fitting, these new overlays should make it easy to convert any BRAVIA display into one that supports touch, ideal for a wide range of interactive environments.

There’s now a total of 12 overlays in screen sizes from 43in up to 100in, all offering guaranteed compatibility with current BRAVIA Professional Displays. Seven overlay models (available as 43/49/55/65/75/85/100in) use infrared (IR) technology, which is both a proven and affordable solution, and offers smooth gesture recognition and accurate, low-lag touch response that’s unaffected by ambient lighting conditions.

A further five overlay models (available as 43/49/55/65/75in) use capacitive technology, as found in tablets and smartphones. This directly senses proximity of the user’s finger or a stylus – allowing extremely rapid response and smooth, speedy gesture recognition in a slim bezel-free design.

All new overlay models feature 10-point multi-touch operation. Ideal for information points, classrooms and visitor attractions, this allows several people to interact with the screen at the same time. The overlay’s tough anti-glare surface allows easy cleaning and ensures optimum visibility, even in sunny or harshly-lit environments. Simple installation and set-up allows deployment of an interactive touchscreen solution in minutes. Overlays are powered directly by BRAVIA, simplifying installation with no need for extra mains power cables and sockets.

As a finishing touch, there’s an additional choice of screen front cover options that allow touch-enabled BRAVIA Professional Displays to blend into any environment. They’re available in white or natural wood finishes. Matching accessories and further custom finishes can be offered on demand, starting from just one unit.

“Offering better design and superior technology, this new family of reliable, high-performance touchscreen overlays put audience engagement right at your fingertips” says Thomas Issa, product manager at Sony Professional Solutions Europe.

“Our touch-enabled BRAVIA Professional Displays are ideal for a wide range of interactive signage and information kiosk applications – from schools, universities, museums, boardrooms and offices to hotel lobbies, hospitality zones, retail stores and visitor attractions. And now they’re also better value than ever.”
