Oblong Industries’ chief operating officer, Mary Ann de Lares Norris, has relocated from the company’s headquarters to Europe in the latest push for growth in the EMEA region. As part of the move Mary Ann’s role will change to vice president, EMEA.

As vice president, EMEA, Mary Ann will be in charge of the entire region and will be the lead executive presence in Europe. Oblong Industries notes that it made the decision following a number of high-profile installations throughout the region, with the company wanting more guidance on how it could capitalise on its existing growth.

Mary Ann explains: “We have seen our ground-breaking technology deployed in a number of successful projects in the region and with more in the pipeline, the time was right to relocate to help accelerate the growth of Oblong throughout EMEA.

“We are committed to the digital transformation of the workplace, delivering Infopresence for a truly immersive, flexible and productive experience; energising meeting collaboration and accelerating decision making. I am looking forward to further strengthening our offering as we continue to expand in the region.”

Mary Ann’s well-established relationships in the region follow a previous role as head of the European division of Oblong, based in Barcelona, and as Chief Operating Officer of a Parisian interactive television company. Mary Ann traces her roots in the company back to MIT where she was a graduate student alongside Oblong company founders.

John Underkoffler, Oblong founder and CEO, notes: “Mary Ann is ideally suited to driving the EMEA business forward for Oblong Industries. Her history with the organisation, her leadership of operations during our recent years of substantial growth and her prior roles in Europe converge to create the perfect candidate. I can’t wait to see what’s next for us there.”

May Ann will be working with existing Oblong teams based in Barcelona and London and spearheading future growth in EMEA.
